Facebook has released 4 new ad upgrades to their existing advertisement system for mobile users. Almost 1.25 billion people access Facebook from their smartphone and the company earned 73% of its advertisement revenue from mobile users in the first quarter of 2015. At Cannes the company announced 4 new integrations to their mobile ad platform.
Canvas ads were introduced for businesses to promote their sponsored services on Facebook. It was meant for an immersive mobile experience with 10 times faster loading than traditional mobile websites. Users will be able to search and purchase products from Facebook itself with all the content hosted on the company servers. This will make navigation and loading times faster and encourage users for a potential purchase.
External merchant links are often not optimized for mobile and are slow to load. Canvas ads look much better and seek to persuade people not to click anything outside of Facebook. It also provides better analytics to marketers with reports on click rates, etc.
Creative Hub is being developed to educate and provide the creative community with tools and resources to build better ads. Agencies can now access different specifications of Facebook and Instagram ads with detailed case studies and better practices to guide them.
Ads can be integrated with Carousel format which will enable creatives to develop improved ads which engage users to a greater extent. Agencies can also make ads and then mock test them and share them with clients and the community. The program is in test mode with prominent agencies in both London and New York like BBDO and RGA. It is expected to be released in the beginning of 2017.

Audience Insights API
The Audience Insights API is aimed to provide better insight into user habits and preferences. The API will track demographics, psychographics, topic data and analysis from Facebook IQ to provide improved insights.
One of the first brands to try it out was Budweiser in Brazil. Budweiser had the thought that Brazilians liked NBA because of the sports itself. But analysis of data from Audience Insights revealed that people were more interested in the players and their lifestyle rather than the sport. It is also expected to roll out along Canvas ads in 2017.
Better Slideshow Ads
Slideshow ads have been improved by Facebook to load quicker than videos as they use less data. This will help marketers create mobile optimized ads by using images, audio, and text options. Ads can be instantly created even by teams lacking video creatives. There is also a “video-to-slideshow” creating tool and can be integrated with Facebook Pages photo library and Shutterstock library.
Businesses looking to leverage on more customers would love to use Facebook ads. The engagement rate is good and the rewards high. You can reach out to your customers in an easier way without having to spend a lot on advertising.
